There are many times while walking around New York City that I think about how awesome it would have been to see the city during the 1960s, 70s or 80s. The culture, the arts scene, the music scene…all so different and with a little extra magic and mystery than today (or so it seemed from books and photos). What I’m not that nostalgic of is perhaps the grittier edge that the city has shed. For example: the subway. Check out this photo of a 1980s subway car….
I definitely am quite happy that one of my only complaints on the subway today is overcrowding. For those who are not familiar with what the cars look like now, see below. After seeing the photo above, I definitely appreciate the new and improved model (although aesthetically still blah).
