“A picture is worth a thousand words.” Well yes and no…a great photo can leave you with an overwhelming feeling of pain, pleasure, sadness, nostalgia, literally countless descriptives to indescribable waves of emotion. A picture can also leave you with nothing. I have begun to really appreciate great photography and aspire to be the creator of frozen epic moments in my day. This one was taken of a poster I have had around for quite awhile. Something about the brightness in it struck me today as the sun finally brought New York a beautiful spring day. I hope it brings beauty in the lives of others as well…

Valentine Lysikatos is originally from Rhode Island and moved to New York City in 2008. She is a dual citizen of the United States and Greece. Her interests include film, music, theater, literature and food. She is inspired by the arts and the cultures of the world. When she is not writing, she works on producing Off- Off Broadway shows.
